About GlenLakes Country Club

GlenLakes, often written Glen Lakes, is a gated community just north of Spring Hill in Weeki Wachee, with a 24-hour manned gatehouse. It has about 1,500 homesites, with single-family homes ranging from maintenance-free residences to larger estate homes, and builders such as Arthur Rutenberg Homes, Addison Homes and Palmwood Builders have worked here. Development began in the 1990s and new homes are still being built on remaining lots. There are no age restrictions. The 35,000-square-foot clubhouse holds a fitness center, an aerobics and dance studio, a restaurant and grill room, banquet space and card and craft rooms. Outdoor amenities include a pool, clay tennis courts, an aqua driving range and walking and biking routes. A full-time activities director organizes clubs and events. The land is rolling and heavily treed compared with coastal Hernando, and many homes back to fairways or conservation areas. Maintenance-free sections include lawn and exterior care, which affects HOA costs, so compare sections carefully.

The golf at GlenLakes Country Club

The GlenLakes course is an 18-hole, par 72 Ron Garl design that opened around 1990. It plays about 6,800 yards from the back tees with a slope of 138, one of the tougher ratings in the area, thanks to elevation changes, water and tree-lined holes. The club is private, with membership open to all residents, and it releases select tee times to outside golfers through GolfNow. Golfers in 2026 reviews praise the conditions, staff and pace, with a few notes about summer heat and dry spells. Tee times can be tight in peak winter season. The aqua driving range adds a practice option. GolfPass golfers give the course one of the higher ratings in the region. The clubhouse grill room is a gathering spot after rounds, and the course runs member events throughout the season.

Bayport Park and Pine Island offer Gulf access for fishing and sunsets. Spring Hill has grocery stores, restaurants and medical offices. The Chassahowitzka National Wildlife Refuge to the north is a favorite for paddlers and anglers. The clubhouse restaurant, grill room and ballroom host dinners and events, so residents can socialize without driving far. Grocery stores, pharmacies and casual dining along US 19 cover daily needs. Hernando Beach has waterfront seafood spots and boat ramps, and the Suncoast Parkway makes weekend trips south to Tampa Bay manageable. Brooksville's historic downtown is about 20 minutes east.
